When you walk through our school buildings, you might hear the sounds of students learning to play string instruments like the violin, viola, cello and string bass. Teaching those students is Megan Edinger, our QCSD Music Department orchestra teacher, who began the QCSD Orchestra program in 2018. When she\"s not busy teaching her orchestra students, Megan serves in the National Guard. On Friday November 6, 2020, Megan was promoted to the rank of Major (MAJ) at a service held at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Allentown, PA. QCSD Superintendent Dr. William Harner attended and was personally involved in the ceremony by promoting Megan to her new rank.

Megan joined the Maryland Army National Guard in June 2006 as a Specialist in the 229th Army Band in Nottingham, Maryland and accepted a commission in the National Guard in May of 2010. Over the years she served as Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Operations Officer at the 213 Personnel Company in Fort Indiantown Gap, PA; Human Resources Officer for the 728th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB) in Spring City, PA; and as the Company Commander of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 728th CSSB. After more than 2 years of command, MAJ Edinger was transferred to the 213th Regional Support Group to serve as the Brigade Human Resources Officer in Allentown, PA. MAJ Edinger’s awards and badges include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
