High School Teachers and Admin Make Meals at Ronald McDonald House

The last thing a family wants to think about when dealing with a sick child is meal preparation. That's why the Ronald McDonald houses provide home cooked meals to all the families staying there. And yesterday, members from the high school along with the administrative team, several students, and our school resource officer prepared meals at one of the Ronald McDonald houses in Philadelphia.
School Resource Office, Bob Lee, organized the trip. The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families who have children facing serious medical challenges can stay in comfort while receiving care at nearby hospitals, including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Volunteers regularly donate money to provide food for the meal and then put on their aprons and get to work.
The team prepared a delicious meal of pork loin with cranberries and herbs, chicken breast with roasted shallot au jus, mac and cheese, roasted beets, broccoli, salad, chicken nuggets, and chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies for dessert.
High School Chefs teacher, Chris Polk, attended and recruited some of his students to participate. Others who volunteered their time were members Courtney Artau, George Banas, Lori Litchman, and Laurie Christine. They were joined by Officer Lee and high school administrative team: Mr. Van't Hoenderdaal, Mrs. Carolla, Mr. Dinney, Mr. Magditch and Mr. Soto.
The Ronald McDonald House is always looking for guest chefs. Click here for more information about volunteering.
